Dental Trauma: Act Quickly
For an adult tooth that is knocked out, handle it by the crown, not the root; if possible place it back gently or keep it in milk and seek urgent dental care.
A chipped, displaced or knocked-out tooth needs prompt advice. I first assess the tooth, surrounding bone and soft tissues, then explain the immediate step and the follow-up needed because some damage appears later.
What I will help you check
- Whether the tooth is loose, fractured or out of position.
- The health of the nerve, root and supporting bone.
- Photographs or X-rays needed to document and monitor healing.
Ask me: What should I watch for after the first emergency visit?
