Facial swelling, fever or severe pain needs prompt dental assessment.
A cavity starts when acids made by mouth bacteria weaken the tooth surface. Early decay may cause no symptoms; later it can lead to sensitivity, pain or infection. I look at the cause and depth before recommending anything.
What I will help you check
- Whether the area is early enough to protect or repair conservatively.
- Your decay risk, including diet, fluoride exposure, dry mouth and cleaning habits.
- Whether an X-ray is useful because some decay is not visible directly.
