Dental Sealants: Protecting Deep Grooves
A sealant is a thin protective coating placed in suitable deep grooves of back teeth. It can reduce the chance of decay in those areas, but it does not replace fluoride toothpaste, careful cleaning or regular review.
What I will help you check
- Whether the groove is sound, stained or already decayed.
- Your age and personal risk of tooth decay.
- How the sealant will be checked and repaired if it wears.
Ask me: Would this tooth benefit from a sealant or a different approach?
